schee – Handbook
schee is a Shopify app with modules for everything around buying – wishlist, delivery times, cart, reviews and much more – and with schee Studio, which gives your theme a look of its own. You set everything up in the app, with a preview. No code, no plugin zoo – back to business.
schee is available in the Shopify App Store. We answer questions in person at servus@schee.app – usually the same day. The app's interface is in German for now – the labels in this handbook are translated.
1. Getting started
- Install: add schee from the Shopify App Store. The app then opens in your Shopify admin under Apps.
- Choose a plan: “schee” or “schee Pro” – both with a free trial, billed through Shopify every 30 days, cancel anytime. Pro adds product options, reviews, the shop check and schee Studio with looks and homepage sections.
- Click through the introduction: four short steps, about five minutes (see below).
The introduction takes you through:
- Turn on schee in your theme – one switch in the theme editor (see section 2).
- Shipping & returns – enter once, all modules read from it (section 3).
- Trust & payment methods – quickly check what you promise your customers.
- Choose modules – turn on what your shop needs.
You then land on the app's home page. Next up lists what is still open – with a button straight to the right place.
2. Turn on schee in your theme
For modules to appear in your shop, your theme needs exactly one switch: in the theme editor under App embeds, the switch “schee – all modules”. The “Turn on schee in your theme” button in the app opens the theme editor in a new tab with the switch already on – just click Save in the top right and close the tab. The app checks again by itself when you come back.
- Which theme? By default your published theme. If you are preparing a new one, choose it on the app's home page under Your theme – schee then checks there and the buttons lead straight into it.
- Older themes (before Online Store 2.0) work too; modules place themselves automatically.
- Turn off: switch it off again in the theme editor and save. Individual modules are easier to turn off in the app.
3. Shipping & returns
Shipping costs, free shipping threshold, countries, shipping days, order cut-off, holidays, handling and transit times and the return period are entered once under Shipping & returns. Cart, stock status & delivery time, gift options and the data for Google all read from it – enter once, right everywhere.
- At first the values are suggestions. Compare them with your shipping settings in Shopify and save once – until then the modules don't promise shipping costs or dates.
- Different prices per country or weight? Enter your most common case.
- The shop check (Pro) compares these details with Shopify, your pages and the announcement bar.
4. The modules
You turn on each module separately. What is off doesn't load. Every module page has a preview, so you never need to switch to your shop or the theme editor.
| Module | What it does |
|---|---|
| Wishlist | Save products – without an account in the browser, with an account on all devices. Hearts on product cards and in the header, wishlist as a drawer. |
| Announcement bar | Bar at the top with promotions, scheduled bars, countdown and a discount code to copy. |
| Product benefits | A product's strengths as a bar with info box – assigned by collection, product type, tag or product. |
| Trust & payment methods | Secure payment, returns, buyer protection – and your payment methods automatically from Shopify. |
| Stock status & delivery time | Stock status, shipping day with cut-off, delivery window and pre-order. |
| Back in stock | Email to customers as soon as a sold-out item is back – the address is deleted afterwards. |
| Product options & personalisation (Pro) | Name, engraving, choices, photo upload – optionally with a surcharge, no Shopify Plus needed. |
| Cart | Cart drawer, free-shipping progress bar, recommendations with quick add. |
| Gift options | Gift wrap, greeting card, preferred date and gift receipt – for the whole order. |
| Frequently bought together | Matching products added with one click – your selection or Shopify's recommendations. |
| Quick view | View and buy a product without leaving the collection. |
| Sticky buy bar | Price and “Add to cart” stay visible while scrolling. |
| Recently viewed | Recently visited products as a row on product and cart pages. |
| Size chart | Paste tables straight from Excel – in the shop one click next to the size picker. |
| Nutrition & ingredients | Data sheets with nutrition facts, ingredients and allergens – for food shops. |
| Reviews (Pro) | Stars, distribution, form, replies – move from Judge.me, Loox, Yotpo & co. by import. |
| SEO & structured data | Price, availability, shipping, returns and stars as structured data for Google. |
| Withdrawal button | “Withdraw from contract” button on every page, with form and email confirmation. |
| Shop check (Pro) | Checks at the push of a button whether shipping, returns, legal pages, modules and products fit together. |
Where does it appear? Most modules place themselves – below the add-to-cart form, in the cart or at the end of the page. For another position, turn off the automatic placement on the module page and add the block in the theme editor yourself: Add block → Apps tab.
Unit prices: wherever a module shows a product price, the unit price is shown too, as soon as you have set it for the product in Shopify.
5. schee Studio
Under Studio you give your shop a look of its own – and match the modules to it. Studio doesn't change your theme's code: it is pure design that schee brings along. Look off or app uninstalled – everything is as before, and your theme's updates keep working as usual.
Modules adapt automatically
Without any setting, the modules pick up your theme's button colour, corners, text and background colours. Change your colours in the theme editor and the modules follow instantly. In Horizon, Shopify's standard theme since 2025, this even works per section – including a dark footer.
Looks (Pro)
A look restyles the whole theme: font, colours, buttons, product cards, header and footer – and all modules in the same style. In the Look tab you see before and after, and whether your theme fits. Looks are available for Horizon so far; more themes will follow.
- Choose a look (“Use this look”).
- Once: “Turn on schee Studio in your theme” – a second switch in the theme editor (App embeds → “schee Studio – look”); the button opens it already switched on. Save, done.
- Want to see it first? Turn on “schee Studio – look” in a copy of your theme first (choose it on the app's home page under Your theme) and check the preview.
A look weighs about 2 KB plus one font file, no JavaScript – your shop stays fast, nothing jumps while loading.
Homepage (Pro)
Three sections for your homepage, set up in the Homepage tab with a preview:
- Hero – a large image from a collection, heading, text and a button to it.
- Collection tiles – up to six collections with images.
- Promises – three or four reasons to buy from you, with an icon.
To add them: Open homepage in the theme editor → Add section on the left → Apps tab → “schee Studio – hero” (or tiles, promises). Drag to the right place, hide theme sections you no longer need with the eye icon, save. From then on you edit the content in the app only. Collection titles, images and links always come fresh from Shopify.
Modules
In the Modules tab you set what should differ from the automatic adjustment: accent colour, box background and border, corners, the style per module (plain, box, highlighted) and highlighting low stock or “ships today”. What you set here always wins – even over the look.
6. Emails to your customers
Back in stock and the withdrawal button send emails. Without a setting they go through schee's mail server (sender noreply@schee.app with your shop's name, replies reach you). With your own mail server under Settings → Email sending they come from your address. Send yourself a test email afterwards – the message tells you what's wrong if something doesn't work.
7. Your data
- What schee stores is listed in the app under Settings → Privacy – only what a module really needs, stored in Germany. schee's privacy policy is at api.schee.app/datenschutz.
- Export: Settings → Export your data – reviews, withdrawals, waiting customers, nutrition data and settings as a file (CSV or JSON), to open in Excel or for a move.
- Legal questions are for your legal text provider or lawyer – schee provides features and is not legal advice.
8. Before uninstalling
When you uninstall, Shopify removes almost everything itself: the switches in your theme, the blocks and the app's fields. Under Settings → Before uninstalling you remove with one click what would otherwise stay in your shop (surcharge product of the product options, the “gift wrap” product, optionally the stars). Export what you want to keep first. 48 hours after uninstalling, schee deletes all of your shop's data.
9. FAQ
A module is on, but nothing happens in the shop. Usually the switch in the theme is missing (section 2). At the top of the module page it says what's going on – for example “Check shipping & returns first” or that the module belongs to schee Pro.
Does schee work with my theme? The modules run in every theme and adapt. Looks are available for Horizon so far; dedicated packages for other popular themes will follow.
Does schee slow down my shop? Each module only loads when it's on, and only on the pages where it's needed. A look needs no JavaScript.
Can I get rid of the look again? Yes, with one click: “No look” in Studio – or turn off the “schee Studio – look” switch in the theme editor. Your theme was never changed.
How do I cancel? Uninstall the app in Shopify – that ends the subscription. Feel free to tell us what was missing.
My question isn't answered here. In the app under Help & contact or by email to servus@schee.app.
